MUAY THAI &
GRAPPLING 2007 will be a
BIG year of growth for the AGMA
Muay Thai Kickboxing & Grappling Program with the
leadership of Dennis Aguirre,
Mike Tompkins and
Mike Mizal, as we
begin to develop a full mixed martial arts (MMA)
program. Master Instructor Dennis
Aguirre (also a 4th Dan in Taekwondo)
has been involved with Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing and Taekwondo
for over 30 years as a student, instructor and coach. He is
assisted by his brother-in-law, Mike
Tompkins (also a 2nd Dan in
Taekwondo). Rounding out the program on the mat with the
famous Gracie-style Jujitsu is Mike
Mizal (a Gracie-style Jujitsu Blue
Belt, 3rd Dan in Taekwondo and Special Military
training). Combined, you will learn to box, kick, punch,
clinch, elbow, knee and more in standup positions while
learning to takedown, pin and tap out your opponent down on the
mat. Muay Thai is specifically designed to promote a level of
fitness and toughness that is required for ring competition.
This also includes training with coaches on Thai pads, focus mitts,
heavy bags and sparring. We also plan to have a full MMA
(mixed martial arts) ring available for use in 2007. Muay
Thai is an all-around defensive and offensive martial art combined
in one style. These are BIG guys with
big talent to share! This class is not for
the meek: You will work, sweat and get banged
around !!! Classes are offered
on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 8:00 pm until 9:30
pm. Plan to arrive early, warmup and stretch out
before putting your body to the test. You can either enroll
in AGMA's Black Belt Club for
UNLIMITED weekly classes for only $119.00 per
month, which equates to about $6.11 per hour of Muay Thai or less
is you cross-train in any of our other styles. If your
schedule is already limited by other obligations, take advantage of
our 10-class Punch Card for $100.00, which
is $10.00 per Muay Thai class. |

GRACIE-STYLE of BRAZILIAN
JIU-JITSU Mike Mizal is an all-around martial
arts instructor who expertly shares his knowledge
and skill in the renowned Gracie-style of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu,
Muay Thai, military defense tactics, Taekkwondo, and more.
You will realiza that size does
not matter when you can learn to
properly apply the Gracie-style of techniques on your
opponent. Combining Mike Mizal's class with Dennis Aguirre's Muay
Thai class will give your mind and body an intense workout and make
you a skilled fighter when you correctly use these
techniques. Mike Mizal is also a 3rd Dan in
Taekwondo. Due to the overwhelming
success in the style of techniques developed by Carlos Gracie,
there are now many grappling acts out here with many different
names such as: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Grappling, Submission
Wrestling, and Ju Jitsu because of the succes of the Gracie-style
since the creation of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in
1993 by Rorion Gracie. The dominating Gracie-style was
created in Brazil in the early part of this century by Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu pioneer Carlos Gracie, who had studied traditional
Japanese Jiu-Jitsu as a teenager under the great Japanese champion,
Mitsuyo Maeda (known as Conde Koma in Brazil). Carlos Gracie
modified these classical techniques and refined his art to meet the
demands of real, "no rules" fighting in the streets of Brazil with
anyone who was willing to fight him, big or small, and regardless
of their martial arts style. Although Gracie was a mere 135
pounds, his style was so effective that Carlos Gracie was
never defeated and became a
Brazilian and Worldwide legend. |
